Nigeria’s strategic objective is to reach at least half of all farming households in the country with improved, climate-resilient farming methods.

Overview of the Role

The Nigeria Expansion Senior Specialist position at One Acre Fund is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the organisation’s growth into new regions and introducing innovative products and services tailored to smallholder farmers. With more than five years of experience required in business development or expansion-related work, the role focuses on designing, testing, and implementing scalable models that advance One Acre Fund’s 2030 vision.

The Specialist plays a central role in accelerating the organisation’s reach, enabling hundreds of thousands of farmers across Nigeria to increase their resilience, diversify agricultural income, and adopt improved farming practices. The role reports to the Program Division Lead and collaborates with multiple departments to execute high-impact expansion initiatives.

About the Role

The Expansion Senior Specialist will design and lead strategies for identifying new regions, products, and services that will deepen farmer impact. This includes planning and executing expansion pilots, coordinating cross-departmental decision-making, and ensuring effective rollout of new initiatives. The Specialist will contribute to the organisation’s vision of supporting hundreds of thousands of farmers annually.

Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term strategies for expansion into new agricultural markets and states.
  • Translate strategic priorities into annual expansion plans with clear objectives and timelines.
  • Lead cross-department coordination to ensure smooth execution of expansion activities.
  • Adapt existing products and services for use in new states and test new offerings based on farmer needs.
  • Communicate priorities, decisions, and rollout plans to stakeholders across all levels.
  • Support resource allocation decisions related to new-state expansion and product rollouts.

Eligibility Criteria

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a commitment to farmer impact. Requirements include:

  • At least five years of experience in business development, program expansion, or related fields.
  • Minimum of three years leading teams or coordinating multi-department collaboration.
  • Proven experience expanding into new markets and achieving measurable growth results.
  • Willingness to reside in rural areas for extended periods (up to 18 months).
  • Fluency in multiple languages, with Hausa strongly preferred.
  • A strong growth mindset and enthusiasm for continuous learning.
