AGRO-WELL Open Call for Smart Farming Innovations 2026
The AGRO‑WELL open call presents a compelling opportunity for innovators in agricultural technology to engage in a cutting-edge initiative aimed at transforming farming through modern solutions.
The focus areas include developing and demonstrating Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR) and sensor-based solutions for better working conditions in agriculture; evaluating the social, economic and environmental impacts of digital technologies on farmers and rural communities; assessing the needs of farmers and involving them in the development of solutions, ensuring they address real-world needs; developing sustainable business models, training materials, and effective policy recommendations to support the use of these technologies.
Applicants to the open call will participate in a challenge where technology providers and agricultural stakeholders collaborate to deploy innovative smart-farming applications that address serious workforce and sustainability issues in agriculture. This initiative encourages solutions that enhance occupational safety, reduce manual strain, mitigate environmental impacts and support decision-making on farms by combining robotics, AR, AI and smart sensors.
Selected projects will receive up to €37,500 per project to demonstrate and validate their solution on commercial farms. Projects can last 12-18 months, starting in October 2026.
The project targets multiple farming environments including open fields, orchards, pig farms and greenhouses, offering participants a platform to test, refine, and demonstrate their technology in real agricultural settings. The process is designed not only to foster technological innovation but also to foster sustainable business models and ensure that developed tools are scalable and viable for broader adoption.
