We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Poultry Technician
Location: Gwagwalada, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Monitor breeder flocks daily to ensure bird health, welfare, and production performance.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot farm equipment (feeders, drinkers, ventilation, lighting, and egg collection systems).
- Perform routine electrical and mechanical maintenance on automated poultry housing and control systems.
- Assist with egg collection, handling, and quality checks.
- Prior work with major poultry producers (e.g., Zartech, Amo, Chi Farms, Olam, or international equivalents)
- Maintain accurate flock records, including egg production, mortality, and feed consumption.
- Support vaccination, biosecurity, and flock health programs under farm management direction.
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare, health, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the farm manager on continuous improvement and preventative maintenance schedules.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related technical field (Mechanical/Electrical). Relevant hands-on experience in poultry farm operations may substitute for formal education.
- Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in poultry breeder operations (preferred) or commercial poultry farming.
- Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with automated poultry housing systems is highly desired.
- Ability to work with modern farm control systems (ventilation, feeding, and climate control).
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and proactive work ethic.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and live near the farm site if required.
