Call for Proposals: Resilience and Malnutrition Reduction Programme (Burkina Faso)
Deadline: 05-Nov-2025
The World Food Programme (WFP) in Burkina Faso is inviting nonprofit organizations to collaborate on the implementation of resilience and food security activities in the Plateau-Central region as part of its 2026 strategic initiatives.
The focus area of this opportunity is food security, specifically under food assistance for assets. The selected partner organization will support WFP operations in the Region of Oubri, including the provinces of Boulgou, Ganzourgou, and Kourwéogo, within the communes of Toéguin, Zitenga, and Zorgho.
The WFP works alongside the Government of Burkina Faso toward achieving Zero Hunger by 2030 through activities that build the capacity of vulnerable populations. In partnership with government agencies, NGOs, associations, the private sector, universities, and research institutions, WFP applies its three-pronged approach (3PA) to implement the Resilience Initiative. This approach focuses on creating productive assets and improving access to essential social services through participatory community planning. The initiative strengthens Burkina Faso’s leadership in resilience and aligns with regional efforts to enhance socio-economic, food, and nutritional stability in the face of climate change and shocks.
The initiative supports the creation and restoration of productive assets to improve agricultural output, health services, and education systems. It also contributes to WFP’s global framework launched in 2022, which aims to protect food systems before, during, and after crises, restore natural resources, support climate-resilient production, link production to consumption, promote healthy diets, and create enabling environments for sustainable food systems.
Since 2018, WFP’s resilience programmes in Burkina Faso have rehabilitated over 50,000 hectares of degraded land and supported more than 550,000 people in over 300 villages affected by food insecurity and climate shocks, including those near conflict-affected areas. Regional studies show that these efforts have reduced humanitarian needs by nearly 400,000 people after the harvest and by about one million during the 2022–2023 lean season.
Through this initiative, WFP seeks to enhance access to safe and nutritious food, restore ecosystems, strengthen agrosylvopastoral production, support smallholder farmers, and reduce dependence on food imports. The programme aligns with Burkina Faso’s national priorities, strategic frameworks, and the agro-pastoral offensive for food sovereignty.
This call for proposals aims to identify a cooperating NGO to manage resilience-building and malnutrition-reduction activities, organize field implementation, and ensure the distribution of food and cash-based transfers (CBT) to participants engaged in productive asset creation. Eligible nonprofit organizations must be registered and operational in Burkina Faso and capable of collaborating with technical services, local authorities, and beneficiary communities.
